| DIPLOMA FOR THE BEST POSTER AT THE 13th SYMPOSIUM OF INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF COMMODITY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY |

FASMA SRL won "The Diploma for the best poster in the session General Aspects of Quality, Quality Management" at the 13th Symposium of International Society of Commodity Science and Technology.
The International Society of Commodity Science and Technology (IGWT) was established in 1959 and gather firms and top managers in business and industry all over the world. The central office is in Vienna and they organize one Symposium for the members and other interested participants every two years.
This year was the 13th IGWT Symposium under the title of "Commodity Science in Global Quality Perspective. Products - Technology, Quality and Environment" and in the organization of the Institute of Technology at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor - Slovenia, in 2-8 September, 2001. This is the first IGWT Symposium in the 3rd millennium.
The Symposium had a scientific program, where the participants have presented their papers and posters, in the following sessions:
-- Technology and technological development: technological innovations, key and generic technologies
-- Technology management: technology transfer, technological forecasting, technology assessment, technological analysis
-- General aspects of quality, quality management
-- Methods / tools for total quality management
-- Quality of commodities (technical and other products, food products)
-- Quality and marketing
-- Sustainable development and environmental management
-- Ecodesign, cleaner production, cleaner products and services
-- Waste management
and a scientific study tour, where the participants visited the most important companies in Slovenia (Gorenje, Ljubljana-Minolta, Elan-ski factory, Henkel-Slovenia, Mura European Fashion Design, Lasko-Brewery, Pomurske Mlekarne - dairy factory and ISKRATEL-SIEMENS Ljubljana).
290 scientists and businessmen participated in this Symposium, all over the world (USA, Germany, Austria, France, Japan, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, China, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Russia, Bulgaria, Korea, Ukraine).
FASMA ROMANIA presented the paper "FIRST ROMANIAN ORGANIZATION THAT OBTAINED THE ISO CERTIFICATE FOR THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ISO 9001:2000" and a poster with the same title. In this article we present our vision, strategies and actions for designing, implementing and certified a Quality Management System in accordance with new International Standard ISO 9001:2000 for an Information Technology organization. Because the company has a different activity instead an industrial one, a series of specific features had appeared and these might be considered when we started the designing and implementation of the quality management system.
FASMA ROMANIA won The Diploma for the best poster in the session General Aspects of Quality, Quality Management, in the Posters Contest.
Owing the fact that such a large number of eminent scientists working in the field of Commodity Science and other related areas from all over the world were taking part in this symposium, the participants benefited greatly from the exchange of ideas during stimulating presentations and fruitful discussions and they leave with a renewed energy for new challenges.
